Satoko and Kira have been partners ever since they were born. This was because they were both missing parents ever since birth, and had been taken into an orphanage on the same day and time... thus, they were made to have the same birth date. The orphanage almost paired them to do their education together. However, even though they held hands like the orphanage standards said and stood by each other, they were quite distant and didn't get to understanding each other until a couple of years.
Around the ages of four or five saw Satoko and kira's first bonding tie, when Satoko is alone and is sadly pondering over why she's missing parents after she heads out into the district and catches sight of children with a mother and father of their own. Kira, thinking she's sad to cry, comforts her. She dubs him 'strange boy', but thanks him anyway.
The next major tie was when the orphanage children were playing dodgeball, and poor little Kira was either being targeted, or just ignored. Satoko saw this strange, and passed a ball to him whenever she could. When he was attacked just out of Satoko's reach, he finally began crying (very ironic compared to the first bond) and Satoko goes to his help, comforting him. When a ball intended to target Kira comes flying and whacking Satoko in the face, she loses her cool and violently chases the orphanage pests away. From thus on Satoko is always protecting Kira when he is bullied. Kira swears to become strong and protect Satoko in return one day.
A common habit of Satoko and Kira's is to use allowance to buy sweets and huddle together almost every day to eat and share stories together in a blanket. In the days of the academy this fell apart, but upon becoming vice captains, to this day they still do this at least once per week... except they sit in a friendly conversation either in their offices or homes.
When it comes to around age seven to eight, Satoko is adopted by a woman of mid-class, and made to leave Kira behind at the orphanage. Despite that, she still spends time out of family to play with him. Since Kira is such a mannerful child, Satoko was allowed to keep ties with him. Soon into their pre-teens Kira and Satoko join the academy, but losing bomnding time completely. They graduated together and also made sure they were both promoted steadily around the same time.
Currently they have met their goal to become Vice Captains together.
